The Hardest Job

28 Apr

Parenting is the toughest and most rewarding job that you could have. Oprah has often said that “Being a Parent is the Hardest Job in the world” and this is coming from a woman without children. From the day your child is conceived you begin to pray over their lives. As parents we agonize about what they should eat, when they should go to sleep, whom they play with, what schools they attend, what sports and activities they should be in, what grades they get, what values we instill in them and on and on.

The number one job of being Mom or Dad is to make sure your child has what it takes to be successful in this life. As the mom of a 14 year old and 8 year old I know for sure that their needs are different. I have made every effort to help them identify their strengths and work on their weaknesses. I support them in victory and discipline them when they need it. I’m the Cook, Coach, Educator, Accountant, Seamstress, Taxi, Banker, Adviser, Therapist, Friend, Spiritual leader, and Mom. God has given me charge over two wonderful young ladies and I take my job as Commander and Chief seriously. I will and have gone to battle for my girls. After all if I don’t who will?

Some days the job is easy and everything goes as planned. And some days the job keeps you on your knees praying for assistance from above. But one thing is for sure, God provides the strength, courage and patience to get the job done. So to every Mom and Dad who has grown weary please know that yes the Job is Hard but one day you will hear “JOB well done”. Keep fighting and victory will reign supreme.
